Los Tucanes de Tijuana with Tapy Quintero at WinStar World Casino

Los Tucanes de Tijuana have been one of the defining bands of norteño music since the late 1980s. Led by songwriter Mario Quintero, the group turned accordion-driven corridos and cumbias into crossover hits, with "La Chona," "El Tucanazo," and "Secuestro de Amor" becoming anthems that still fill dance floors. Their catalog spans dozens of albums, multiple Latin Grammy nominations, and generations of fans on both sides of the border.

Tapy Quintero joins the bill for the WinStar date, keeping the accordion and bajo sexto tradition front and center. The show starts at 8:00 PM in Lucas Oil Live, the resort's 5,000-seat arena. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and the WinStar box office.

A December tradition of big regional shows

WinStar packs its early December calendar with marquee regional Mexican nights, and Los Tucanes anchor one of the biggest. North Texas has a deep norteño following, and shows like this give families in Lamar and Fannin counties a reason to point the pickup north on I-35 for the evening.

Why it matters for the area

For buyers weighing the move to Northeast Texas, the entertainment calendar is part of the quality-of-life math. A band with the legacy of Los Tucanes playing an hour and a half from Paris shows the region has kept its connections to the live music circuit, from Red Dirt and country to Tejano and norteño.
