A Red Dirt mainstay brings the full band to Southern Junction Live in Royse City on Saturday, November 21. The same Stoney LaRue who packed the downtown Paris square in June, this time playing a dance-hall set that starts late and runs long.

Stoney LaRue has been one of the defining voices of Red Dirt music since the late 1990s. Born in Taft, Oklahoma, and raised on a steady diet of country, blues, and rock, he built a devoted following through relentless touring and albums like The Red Dirt Album and Velvet. His sound sits at the intersection of Texas country and Red Dirt: raw, honest, and built for dance-hall floors.

He headlined week three of the 903 Sunsets series on the downtown Paris square this past June, so readers of this journal know exactly what a LaRue night feels like. The Royse City date is a different room, a proper country dance hall where the crowd two-steps between songs and the set list digs deep into his catalog.

Getting there from Arthur City

Southern Junction Live sits on TX-276 in Royse City, roughly 75 minutes southwest of 3870 County Road 45080. The late start means no rush to get there, and doors opening at 6:00 PM give plenty of time for dinner and a drink before the music starts at 10:30. It is an easy Saturday trip for anyone in the Paris, Greenville, or Sulphur Springs corridors.

Why it matters for the area

The Texas country circuit is a connected world, and Royse City is part of the same circuit that runs through Paris, Greenville, and Durant. When a hometown favorite like LaRue keeps playing these smaller rooms, it keeps live music accessible to rural communities without a trip to Dallas. That is exactly the kind of thing that makes country living here feel full, not isolated.
