Jake Worthington at Choctaw Grand Theater

Jake Worthington is part of the current wave of Texas country artists keeping the traditional sound alive. His music leans on steel guitar, fiddle, and a working-man's voice, the kind of honest honky-tonk that has deep roots in the region around Northeast Texas and Southern Oklahoma. He has built his name on steady touring and a catalog that rewards the listener who actually pays attention to the lyrics.

The venue

The Choctaw Grand Theater at Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant has become one of the premier live-music rooms within easy driving distance of Paris. Its acoustics are built for full-band country, and its sightlines mean there isn't a bad seat in the house. Because the theater does not sell advance tickets at the casino itself, Ticketmaster is the official source, with resale listings also appearing on platforms like SeatGeek.

Why it matters for the area

Durant sits just over an hour's drive from Paris, which makes the Choctaw Grand Theater a realistic "big night out" for anyone living in Lamar County. Shows like this reinforce that living in rural Northeast Texas doesn't mean giving up access to quality entertainment, it means the drive is part of the evening. For buyers weighing acreage near Arthur City, the proximity to a full slate of touring acts is worth knowing about.

If you're planning to go, note the December date and the 8 PM showtime. The drive from 3870 County Road 45080 to the theater runs about 65 minutes, close enough for a weeknight or weekend show without an overnight stay.
